Intern Diary - Holly Warner

We've loved having Holly in the studio for the past week for her work experience, helping us out with some projects we have ongoing and getting a feel for the creative industry. Holly is currently studying A-levels at William de Ferrers 6th Form and has demonstrated impressive skills and enthusiasm.

We asked Holly to share her thoughts on her time with us and her future plans...

Tell us a little bit about yourself...

Hi my name is Holly, I am 16 years old and I am currently studying for my A Levels. When I’m not at school I enjoy hanging out with my friends and going to concerts.

What made you choose Polar?

I really wanted to gain experience working for a creative design company, and was so grateful that Polar gave me the opportunity to do so.

Which projects did you work on?

I was lucky enough to be included in many projects where I was shown the development process from the start of design (such as the brand frameworking, before creating moodboards, concepts and logos). Having the full support the entire time helped me refine and push my findings. I enjoyed participating in meetings and video conferencing calls with clients for up and coming projects. Furthermore, I was also able to work on illustrations for a children’s book, working from the client brief to develop illustrations and drawings. In doing so I have been able to gain valuable experience and many new skills.

Any surprises?

I don’t think I fully appreciated just how much work and thought goes in to each and every campaign.

What are your future aspirations?

The next stage for me is to go to university to study a degree in Art, after which, I would then like to pursue a career in a creative agency just like Polar!

What have you enjoyed most about working with the team at Polar?

I’ve really enjoyed working with the team at Polar, they consistently took time out of their day without hesitation to show me the processes behind different types of projects, giving me an overall picture of all the elements that go into a successful design campaign. I have learnt so much in such a short amount of time and can’t believe I’ve only been here for a week.

Is there anything else you'd like to share about your experience?

Although being nervous about starting my first ever work placement, I could not have had a better first experience working at Polar and working alongside more welcoming and friendly people.

It was great having Holly as part of the team this week, and we would like to wish her the best of luck at university. We hope our paths cross again soon.
